At James Oliver, we’re forward-planning and building a formidable workforce for the future, enrolling two of our apprentice bricklayers onto a Bricklayer Apprenticeship course at Lincoln College.
Zack, who joined us just over a year ago, and recent recruit, Lloyd, both working for us as labourers / bricklayers mates, have just started their Apprenticeship Standard in Bricklaying Level 2.
A three-year course, it covers all areas of brickwork, helping them gain valuable knowledge of the trade and learn how to lay bricks, blocks and other types of building components in mortar to construct and repair walls, foundations, partitions, arches and other structures. It will also give them an understanding of relevant Health and Safety standards in the construction environment.
We reached out and approached the College to see if there were any available courses where they could go and learn the basics, coming at a time when there is a severe shortage of bricklayers in this country.
We have every confidence that they will complete the apprenticeship with flying colours as they’re a very enthusiastic and talented pair, and being mentored by some of our most experienced team members, Simon, Martin and James.
Collectively, the trio have been with James Oliver for well over 40 years, so Zack and Lloyd really are learning from the best.
We’re extremely proud to be supporting the local community in this way and giving both guys a fantastic opportunity to forge a brilliant and lasting career.
