3 Simple Bits Of DIY You Can Do This Summer To Improve Your Home

If you have decided to forego a holiday this summer and plan on spending the duration of it at home, you will have time on your hands to enhance your property.

You don’t need super-duper DIY skills to do certain jobs, and there will always be something you can turn your hand to.

Making adjustments can also increase the value of the house, so it’s well worth the small amount of effort involved.

You may already drawn up your own DIY to-do list, but if you haven’t, James Oliver has some DIY ideas you can use:

Change the look of your cabinets

Do your kitchen and bathroom cabinets have a tired appearance? If so, you may not necessarily need to get the units taken out.

Keep the units if they still have their strength and just repaint them with a brand-new colour, or you could give them a new covering with a reface. Unscrew the old hardware and change that too.

The room will look and feel so much different, all for very little money and very little exertion of energy. You will also be helping the environment by not buying new cabinets.

Hang up a gorgeous gallery of photos

Do you have a bare wall somewhere indoors and are unsure what to do with it? Create a gallery of photos on it with a consistent theme.

That theme could be family-related and a series of shots of you and your loved ones, or if mad on sport or music, find some photos of your favourite sports stars or music artists that you can frame.

Frames can be bought pretty cheaply and buy frames that aren’t all alike so that it gives the gallery a quirky look.

Repurpose those pallets for the garden

If you have any pallets in the garage that you don’t use or are prepared to buy some cheap ones, they can be repurposed for your garden space, an area that you shouldn’t overlook.

They can be converted into a vertical planter if you want to do some plant-growing in your garden but are restricted for space, or do you need some extra seating outside for those summer barbecues?

Using the pallets, create an outdoor wooden bench and thoroughly pad it so that it feels comfortable to sit on.
