The festive fun should be in full flow in the lead up to the big day. So, get the mince pies in and crank up the classic Christmas tunes.
It needs to be cosy indoors though and that should come from more than just your favourite fleecy festive pyjamas and thickest throws.
Go fully festive with your fireplace
Why not have a separate centrepiece to your Christmas tree this year by turning your fireplace into as much of a festive focal point and making it look equally heartwarming.
A wreath displayed in the space above the fireplace will definitely make it standout – you can still have one on your front too.
If you like to cover your mantel with a garland, put a Christmas message in lights amongst the foliage that says something like ‘Merry Christmas’ or Ho-Ho-Ho’.
Give the interior a glow using fairy lights
Do you have any empty jars or bottles lying around the house? Rather than ditch them in the recycling bin, turn them into containers for soft fairy lights.
It’s easy enough to put them into a jar, but for a bottle, you will need to drill a hole in the bottom and feed the lighting through, using a pencil or chopstick to get the lights in a nice arrangement.
Evenly distribute them around the house, with them on display in your various window sills, tables, shelves etc.
Put Christmas memories on show
When we reflect on our childhoods, Christmases are often one of the first things that spring to mind, times filled with such happy memories.
You may have photographs of some of these occasions, and if you do, they should be brought out for the festivities so that each time you see them, you get holly, jolly recollections.
Have some printed onto baubles for the tree or get them transformed into personalised snow globes.
