Ways To Cool Down Your Conservatory Space

Conservatory usage in summer is restricted for some Lincoln householders, as when the outdoor temperature rises, so does the temperature inside their living space.

This happens a lot with old conservatories and James Oliver feels the frustration of people in this predicament, which is why we ensure our conservatories are all designed and built for year-round use.

Need advice on cooling down your existing conservatory or about to buy one and want an energy efficient design? The following steps will stop you from feeling the heat.

Solid Roof Installation

Insulation needs to come from your roofing system and a solid roof is a great insulator, far more so than a traditional glass or polycarbonate roof – it will make heat transference better balanced.

On any hot summer’s day, this energy efficient roof will keep the interior well-cooled so that you don’t get a serious sweat on.

Glass conservatory roofs can also create the same effect, so long as they come with solar control glazing for reliable temperature regulation. The glazed option will give you the best aerial view and filter in lots of light from above.

Bi-Folding Doors

Improved temperature control in your conservatory could also come from the addition of a set of bi-folding doors. Use their gloriously wide opening to enhance airflow and ventilation.

They fold on themselves as you push them open, in a concertina-like fashion, creating a huge unrestricted gap, perfect for getting lots of fresh air in and having it circulate around the space.

Use this opening to also make an easy transition from the indoors to the outdoors and so that the two locations become one or the same.

Some Further Ideas

Ventilation is key and for more of it, just open any windows within the conservatory, and look into having a ceiling fan fitted to circulate cool air throughout.

Coolness can also come from putting a few potted plants and greenery around the space as they will release moisture into the air, a process known as transpiration.

Whichever of these suggestions you implement, whether it’s just one or several of them, they will make summers in the conservatory anything but unpleasantly hot.
