One of the main differences between an orangery and conservatory is the amount of glazing present within both types of extension – conservatories are crafted with a greater amount of glass. With this in mind, this extension is identified as an orangery, which is right. Another difference is that orangeries would only be able to house such a huge glass roof. As one collective family, the patio, roof, doors and windows are able to transform the orangery’s interior into the perfect indoor hideaway; ideal for reading, working or gaming.
As the family were keen to encourage younger family members to play outdoors in lovely weather, an additional ask was for patio doors. With elegant side panelling, the doors were the perfect option for a garden opening if the kids wanted to grab a game and head outside into the fresh air. When looking at the orangery from outside, with its large roof and intricate detail, it’s hard not to admire the work that’s gone into it; a great achievement that James Oliver did with ease.
