Make an Entrance with a Brick Porch

Installing a porch is a great way to enhance your home’s entrance. They serve many functions, including plenty of storage area and increased warmth as well as being a stylish addition to the exterior. Brick is a firm favourite when it comes to choosing a new porch, as it is timelessly beautiful. Our fantastically versatile range of brick porch designs allows us to match your home’s existing aesthetic effortlessly, or if you want something different, we can deliver a contemporary design in contrast. Brick porches not only offer lasting strength and security, but also look elegant.

Security & Strength that will Endure

One of the amazing features of our brick porches is the brilliant security they offer due to integrated multi-point locks and, of course, incredible workmanship. The humble brick porch has come a long way in terms of energy efficiency, with modern insulation installed to ensure maximum performance. Now you can have a stunning, traditional style porch with all the benefits of a contemporary building. Your new brick porch will provide the perfect warm welcome when you return home, retaining heat from inside the house as well as stopping cold air from entering.

Security

The fact that the majority of porch installations don’t require prior consent in terms of building regulations make it even more of a no-brainer to have one fitted as it can be done so quickly and efficiently. More importantly, it will leave your property feeling far more secure as each porch design comes with dog bolts, a multi-point locking mechanism, and a series of anti-bump/snap cylinders. Can your home really afford to be without one?

Practical

It’s only when you have a porch fitted that you start to realise just how useful it is as it will come into operation at various times of the day. Each time you or any other family member leaves or enters the house you will find it invaluable for grabbing or storing all those coats, hats, scarves, shoes etc. Whilst you won’t spend much time inside it, whenever you do happen to be within its presence you will find it to be tremendously energy efficient.

Cost Effective

A porch will never rival a conservatory or orangery for extravagance but where it does rank highly is in its affordability. When you weigh up what it costs against its usefulness there really is every reason to own one as it will be utilised time and time again, more so than any home extension. It will also take the burden off other rooms in the house so that they can remain spacious as a porch can easily accommodate plenty of belongings.

Our solid roofs come in two different varieties…

Lightweight Tile

Our lightweight tiles come provided in colours of green, red, umber, ebony and charcoal. When replacing your old roof for a solid roof make sure that you choose a similar colour so that the new roof suits your home as much as the old one.

Lightweight Slate

As time progresses traditional slates tend to take something of a battering from the weather and lose their initial toughness and aesthetic appeal. We have resolved this by creating lightweight slates that look like the real thing, but completely outdo them in terms of enduring strength and resilience. They can be finished in black, brick red, pewter grey, plum and a stone colour.

Colours to Complement

A solid roof should look like it’s always been a part of your home. This will only be the case if you choose an appropriate colour for your solid roof tiles to help it blend in. We have several finishes that will likely be near identical to the colour of any roof tiles so finding a solution should be easy.

Add that extra special finish touch to your porch…

Clear glass may be fine for side frame windows, but you’d be amazed how adding a beautiful bevelled, coloured and leaded glass design can enhance the overall appearance of your porch.

Coloured glass in a variety of appealing shades can be subtly added to the border or positioned in the centre of the unit. The main double glazed windows can also feature an assortment of traditional, diamond or Georgian leaded patterns across the whole of the glass area or simply added to the edges to create stunning visual effects.

Add Bevelled glass in top lights to the mix and you’ll gain an incredible appearance of depth for the ultimate in stylish good looks.

Planning Permission

There’s a good chance that your chosen porch will be regarded as a ‘permitted development’ which basically means that no planning permission requirements will need to be met beforehand. For it to be classed as a ‘permitted development’ it must meet the following criteria: (1) the internal ground floor area does not exceed three square metres; (2) no part of the porch is more than three metres above ground level; (3) no part of the porch is within two metres of any boundary of the dwelling and the highway.

Building Regulations

For a porch to be exempt from building regulations it must measure no more than thirty square metres internally and must have no adverse effect on any ramped or levelled access, whilst also be in keeping with the original front entrance. Any glazing and electrical fittings utilised must also comply with building regulations in order for it to get the go-ahead.
